The Chestnut Munia is very common and it is found in a vast area that includes the Indian peninsula, until the archipelago of Indochina and Malaysia.
The birds are presented in a dark brown body and their heads are black, hence the name, with the beak color of lead. There are variations in subspecies that have different colors (eg: black belly, hood with various shades of black).
It feeds on seeds of canary seed, millet, white, panic, and niger seed lawns.
Its reproduction occurs during our winter, with temperatures around 20 degrees. Average of 3 or 4 broods per season with the help of nurses in captivity (White-rumped Munia).
