The Black-chinned Siskin is in the southern regions of South America.
Ancestrals are of medium size (12-13 cm) and have the characteristic round shape of South America carduelis. The male is gray with the green part of the abdomen with a yellow coloration. The head, wings and tail are black. These are barred with yellow. From the name has a stain that looks like a black beard in the throat. The female has the colors less bright and does not contain the characteristic spot-shaped beard.
They feed generally canary seed, hemp, niger seeds, perilla seeds and various lettuces.
Their breeding period is to cover the warmer months of spring and summer. Average of 3 broods per season.
