The Black-crested Finch is present in some regions of South America, particularly in Bolivia, Paraguay, and in some northern areas of Argentina.
The birds are small (12-13 cm). They have a characteristic streak black / white at the level of the head, an upper body of gray ash, and bottom fades to gray. The sexes are almost identical: the female difference for the grayish black.
They feed generally canary seed, millet, millet, white, hemp, niger, panic, fruits and insects of various kinds.
Their breeding period is to cover the warmer months of spring and summer. Average of 2 / 3 broods per season.
