For its form and its tone is often confused with the Cordonbleu and Blue-capped Cordonbleu. The adult male has a distinctive detail that distinguishes it from Cordonblue, which is the red spot extended posterior to the eyes. The female is more easily distinguishable as it differs by the tail more pronounced than the female of Cordonbleu, and the lack of red beak compared to Blue-capped Cordonbleu.
Nutrition of the Cordonbleu is composed of grains of panic, canary seed, millet, white, red millet, niger and small insects.
