The special birds are specifically requested by the customer and have one of the following requirements:

 

  • come from breeders awards in the international area;

  • with higher  beauty  standards with the requirements for exhibition, selected through the established skills of Ornitologia Lodato and the actual availability of quality on the market. It is possible that for some subjects the availability of quality is not up to standard, so it is not possible to guarantee this point. For the most common subjects, our choice has reference to the criteria of judgment of the FOI or defined in the PDF created by us;
  • with special requirements explicitly requested by the customer, for example: bird of very large size, with a drawing of a body part marked with a color more or less intense or frosted, etc., to be specified in the note field;
  • relate to market news reported in our catalog (ex.: bullfinch mutation pastel yellow brown);

 

NB: The top birds can also be adults or reproductor.

The distribution of Green-winged Pytilia extends throughout Africa except northern Africa above the Sahara.

There are a large number of subspecies:
Pytilia melba melba, Pytilia melba thamnophila, Pytilia melba citerior, Pytilia melba soudanensis, Pytilia melba flavicaudata, Pytilia melba belli, Pytilia melba percivali, Pytilia melba jessei, Pytilia melba grotei and Pytilia melba hygrophila. The male has very vivid colors: red in backtail, tail, beak and face, green in the rest of the body except in the belly that it is white streaked with black. The female lacks the red in the face.

The diet of Green-winged Pytilia is composed of grains of panic, canary seed, millet straw, red millet, niger and small insects.

The breeding period starts from August to December with an average of 2 to 3 broods per season. The birds are particularly aggressive and territorial.
