The Zebra Finch is native to the islands of northern Australia (Timor).
Birds with normal color have a gray color extended over the entire portion of the back and head with orange cheeks and red bill. The part of the chin strap is striped black and white. The sides are brown dotted with white.
The female has only the color gray. There are several mutations in captivity and various combinations of mutations.
It feeds on seeds of canary seed, millet, white, panic, and niger seed lawns.
Its reproduction occurs during our winter, with temperatures around 20 degrees. Average of 3 or 4 broods per season with the help of nurses in captivity (White-rumped Munia).
